Think-Tank & Philanthropy
Where Great Minds and Generous Hearts Collide
It has been 200 years since the industrial revolution, yet today 690 million people survive on less than $1.90 a day, 154 million people camp on the streets, and there are nearly forty perpetual wars around the world. As a human race, we still have not yet met enormously basic human needs – disease, poverty, homelessness, and injustice.
However, the disparity between the rich and the poor is only growing wider. For example, the non-profit charity, Oxfam, shocked the world when it published a paper showing that the richest 1% of the world have as much wealth as the rest of the world combined. Estimates show that the world's farmers have enough to feed 1.5X the global population, but close to a billion people go to sleep hungry every night. As a species, humanity possesses the resources and capabilities to solve many of the world's problems. Additionally, the global economy generates vast wealth and resources, that can be directed toward finding answers to these challenges. Based on the average annual increase of 8.73% the world has been experiencing, we can expect the global economy to reach nearly $113.08 trillion in nominal value by the end of 2023.
There must exist soluble solutions to these problems that we have yet to think of. We have the scientific and technological advancements to tackle many of these issues, but we lack the leadership, collaboration, and ingenuity to utilize them.
It’s time to summit the world's brightest – mathematicians, scientists, doctors, lawyers, humanitarians, and educators – who dare to tackle what assails the human condition on a global scale. The Agora brings people together who share the same humanitarian vision and creates a space for the kind of creative ideation and concept mapping that can only be found when great minds spark ideas off one another.
The Agora is a think-tank for developing cutting-edge methodologies for human crises, answering the question: How can we accelerate the vehicle on which generosity travels?
As G.K. Chesterton once said, “Can he hate it enough to change it, and yet love it enough to think it worth changing.”
Our mission is to give a voice and platform to top educators to make high level inquiry and academics accessable to the general public.
In today's rapidly changing world, having a strong foundation of critical thinking skills is becoming increasingly more important than collecting a repository of knowledge. Simply gathering knowledge has become easier than ever with the advent of technology and the internet. What sets individuals apart is their ability to effectively process and make use of that knowledge. The ability to analyze information, question assumptions, and form well-reasoned opinions is a transferable asset that will serve individuals throughout all aspects of their lives and work.
The interactive environment at The Agora promotes active learning and encourages individuals to challenge their own assumptions and beliefs. The Agora brings together experts and professionals in a variety of fields, providing the chance to learn from individuals who have hands-on experience and who understand what knowledge is most relevant to advancing their particular discipline. In a world where information is readily available, the Agora equips individuals with the opportunity to learn how to sort out the crucial information, and apply that knowledge alongside scholars to real-world issues.
